Did you lose your pet? Here is what to do.

  • Post colored flyers (flyers are very important for people not on social media). Hang at least 50-100 flyers within a 2 mile radius to start. 
  • Call microchip company if your animal is chipped to report missing and to verify that the chip is registered and information on the chip is current.
  • Call the following places to report your animal missing:
    • Mountains’ Humane Society Pet Rescue: 909-337-6422
    • Rim Forest Animal Hospital: 909-337-8589
    • Arrowhead Animal Hospital: 909-336-6800
    • Devore Shelter: 909-386-9820
  • If you are in need of more help, we are very experienced with searching, tracking and trapping an animal. We can assist you with the best ways to get your animal home. Please email the following information to Jessica at lostandfound@mhsrescue.org:
    • Your full name
    • Your phone number
    • Your physical address
    • A clear picture of your pet
    • Your pet’s name
    • What day your pet went missing
    • Where your pet went missing from (street and town)
    • Your pet’s temperament
    • If your pet has any medical issues like needing medication

Be aware, there are other people out there that are going to claim they know how to search and trap an animal but they are not experienced or trained. Please proceed with caution as they are not experienced and could cause more harm than good.

Did you find an animal? Here is what to do.

  • If possible take the found animal to any vet and they can scan for a microchip at no cost. Or, MHS has a scanner and can come scan them for a chip during business hours (a donation is appreciated for this service). 
  • If you are not able to hold onto the animal, please call us at 909-337-6422 AND email us at lostandfound@mhsrescue.org and we can check for boarding or try to find a foster home.
  • Post found animal on all the local Facebook pages (MHS- Lost & Found Local Pets, Mountain Animals Lost/Found/In Need, Lake Arrowhead Lost Pets (for animals found/lost in the Lake Arrowhead Area) and RimCritters. If you do not have access to post, please message Mountains’ Humane Society on Facebook and we can post for you. 
  • Contact the following places to report finding the animal:

    • Arrowhead Animal Hospital: 909-336-6800
    • Devore Shelter: 909-386-9820

If someone is trying to claim the animal you found, it is very important to ask for proof of ownership. Ways of proof are pictures and vet records. People will try to claim an animal that is not theirs. If asking for proof makes you feel uncomfortable please don’t hesitate to call us and we will do it for you.
